Graffiti is a word used to describe the art, but what you practice is writing.) and have been writing for a few years now, not actually getting too serious until more recently. But I noticed a few people are asking "How do I write (insert name here) in graffiti?" This really frustrates me, it would be like asking a group of painters how to paint a portrait, and after hearing that question they'd all turn and laugh. Writing is an art, so there is no right or wrong way to do it. I can tell you right now how to write any word, it's actually pretty simple, first you find a few styles you like and look at them for a while. You want to get a good feel for them, compare them a bit, and find what you like the most about the letters you are looking for. Now use these letters and styles as a template to develop your letters from. Try not to copy the letters exactly, as they are someone else's letters and style, and copying them is like plagerism. Now that you have a good feel for your letters you start working on them, starting with basic outlines and working your way up to hook-ups and so on (the stuff that looks cool all over the tag, like arrows, blocks, bubbles and such.) Don't expect to be able to make any cool wildstyle tags or anything right off the bat, start with an aim more towards keeping in shape with the basic letter shapes. If you ever expect to be able to do those crazy intricate tags then you actually have to practice. Remember, this is something you learn, not someting you just pick up and do. If you don't put forth any time or effort to learn it then you can never expect to get any good. It's just that simple. Remember, there is no wrong way, and you will probably have sloppy tags for a while, but if you take the time to keep practicing then eventually you'll be able to develop some nice styles and tags and eventually become a good writer.
