Start by drawing an tall thin oval like shape like in sample 1.  This will be our guide and our flames will be worked on the inside of it.  Sample 2 shows how the flames can be added.  Just add a few squiggles like I’ve done here in sample 2 but make sure they start at the bottom and work upwards.

Step 2:

Now start to double up your lines like in sample 3.  As you can see in sample 4 the squiggles are starting to look more like flames.

Step 3:

Once your happy with your flames erase the oval guide and all unwanted marks.  Then go over it with a fine line pen or darker pencil and start to add color.

Step 4:

A good tip when coloring is to make the tips of the flames yellow and the very bottom of the flames red.

The first one is pretty thorough, so be sure you’ll watch it carefully, as it explains very well how you should hand draw a fire . It treats aspects like shape, layers, rebel flames, etc. So, just watch it (the clip bellow) .

The second one is an easy guide on drawing flames, including a couple of tips on hot to draw hot-rod and tribal flames.

And the third one is a speed drawing video with graffiti letter on fire. Pretty pretty cool, but kind of complicated too.

We tried to put together a how to draw a dragon guide for quite a while, but we only managed to do it now. Cause, even though lots of people want to know how to draw dragons, there are quite a few quality guides online. That’s why in this post we’ll try to gather them together, by showing you a couple of step by step guides with pictures and then a couple of videos.

Our purpose for this post is to show beginners how to draw the basic elements of a dragonn and how to draw a couple of head stances. We’re also working on a more detailed guide where we’ll give tips to the advanced drawers, but that’s yet to be finished now. Will be available in a couple of weeks though, so stay tuned.

But now, let’s get drawing. First we have a step by step guide on how to draw a dragon, thanks to Frozen on Deviantart. You can see it bellow (it’s quite a big picture so make sure you wait for it to load).

And now another guide on how to draw dragon heads in different stances, thanks to Tarjcia.

Draw a perfect shape with a coin + a ruler

If you’re a perfectionist and wish to draw a perfect shaped heart on a piece of paper, you can use the coin and ruler method. With the help of a coin, you draw the two round parts of the heart and then draw the lower part. More about this subject here.

A real biological heart might be a little harder to draw than you think. Below you can find a couple of models you could use for inspiration. Also, you can check out a biology book to see exactly how a biological heart should look. And only then start drawing.

Draw graffiti skulls

Like i said, it will be very hard for you to become a skilled graffer, but if you plan to start on this road, there are a couple of things you might need to know about drawing graffiti that will come in handy.

First, there are 3 approaches for drawing a graffiti:

• the easy one: Draw your text in stick letters with wide spaces around them. Then draw a contour around these letters in order to make them look more funky. Then fill it in and color it.
• The moderate one: Draw the outline of your word without sketching it first, letter by letter… Then fill it in and add effects.
• The hard way: Sketch out your composition and add depth, shadows and effects while progressing.

For the beginners, i recommend using as many helping sketches as possible. And, here are the basic steps a beginner should take:

• First, familiarize yourself with graffiti styles by watching and studying as many compositions you can find out.
• Then, sketch on a piece of paper the word you plan to draw. Start with something simple, like your name.
• Think about the style you are going to use and decide on one, like bubble letters for example.
• Outline the letters you sketched before and try to match the style you chose.
• Be creative, exagerate letters and don’t draw mathematicaly. Graffiti is an art not an exact science.
• Add shadows and depth to your text in order to give it a nice 3D look.
• Blacken your lines with a marker and erase all the unnecesary parts.
• Add color and more details as you think they fit best.
• Start over and over and over, Keep practicing and try drawing more difficult models every week.

When attempting to draw an actual person, one must have in mind that it can be a very tricky and complex undertaking, so I’ll make it as easy as possible. Putting up a step by step guide, using pictures would take up too much of your time and would be too difficult to follow, but a video presentation should be just right.

The first video I want you to see is both complex and fast, so get your pencils and enjoy.

Now that we had a look at our 5 corner star, let’s get drawing!

Step 1: We will start by drawing the letter V upside down, as seen in figures 1 and 2 bellow. Make sure you don’t lift your pencil off the paper until the drawing is finished.

Step 2: Now draw a straight line upward from where you left off and then continue with an horizontal line, from left to right(figures 3 and 4). Remember not to lift your pencil from the paper.

Step 3: All that is left to do is unite the point we are in now to the starting point of our star, by a straight line downward, as seen in figure 5.

If you don’t wish to keep the lines in the middle, now you can erase them, as our 5 corner star is finished. The image used in this guide was originally posted here. Now let’s have a look at a few videos and see what more we can learn from them, about drawing a star.
